Colorado Department of Labor and Employment (CDLE) has announced its decision on who is eligible to participate in the upcoming union election. You can read their ruling here:

The ruling, in short, states that all non-supervisory, non-managerial employees in the following departments will be included:

  • Assessor’s Office
  • Clerk & Recorder’s Office
  • Commissioners’ Office
  • Community Planning & Permitting
  • Community Services
  • Coroner’s Office
  • Housing Authority
  • Housing Department
  • Human Services
  • Information Technology
  • Office of Financial Management
  • Office of Racial Equity
  • Office of Sustainability, Climate Action, & Resilience
  • Office of the County Administrator
  • Parks & Open Space
  • Public Health
  • Public Works
  • Treasurer’s Office

Temporary workers who have worked more than 90 days in the last 365 days will be included in the vote. Non-supervisors will also be included in the vote. Supervisors are defined as people who supervise two or more people. Those who supervise only one person will be included in the union bargaining unit. CDLE also ruled the Housing Authority and Public Health will be included in the vote.

We expect that Boulder County will prepare a list of individuals eligible to vote in the coming election, and CDLE will move forward to schedule the election.

Voting for union representation will allow Boulder County employees to negotiate wages and benefits—just like Boulder County sheriff deputies, City of Boulder firefighters, and Boulder Valley School District teachers. Collective bargaining helps protect the benefits and conditions we have and works to improve them.

If you wish to sign a union authorization card and have not yet done so, we encourage you to do so. If you want to get involved or learn more about Boulder County Employees Union (BCEU) email us at [email protected].
